This impressive photo series about voodoo sheds exceptional light on the historical link between voodoo and the trace of the slave trade. In serene black and white photos and some color images, Gaël Turine tries to capture the essence of voodoo. Gaël Turine is a top Belgian photographer and member of the prestigious French Agence VU. Travels to Benin, the United States and Haiti brought him into contact with various voodoo practices. The artistic series of photographs he took there is also a wealth of anthropological information.

Turine's work is exhibited in galleries, museums and festivals. His essays have been published in international publications such as M Le Monde, The New York Times, Stern, Figaro magazine, L'Espresso, Geo, De Standaard, Newsweek Japan, ..... He has received awards and fellowships in Europe and the United States States.
He also teaches photojournalism at the School of Journalism of the Université Libre de Bruxelles and gives documentary photography workshops in several countries. He is also the author of several monographs
Since 2020, he has also made television journalistic reports for the French and German channel ARTE.
