Description
This book is the catalogue of the beloved "FIRED" exhibition by Helmut Newton.
It contains a compilation of photographs from Queenmagazine, ellegermany and Novamagazine, magazines from the 1960s and early 1970s, after Newton was fired from Vogue in 1964. Word spread quickly in the fashion world and Newton found vast work elsewhere which was later compiled in this exhibition catalogue, curated by his wife June Newton aka Alice Springs for the Helmut Newton Foundation in 2008.
You’ll find the full story behind this unique compilation within the book.
Helmut Newton (Germany/Australia, 1920–2004) was a legendary fashion photographer, known for his provocative, glamorous and highly stylised images. His work, a blend of eroticism and elegance, redefined fashion photography and challenged conventions of beauty and power. Newton's iconic black-and-white photographs appeared in leading magazines such as Vogue and influenced visual culture for decades.
