Koen Broos
Koen Broos (°1972) lives in Antwerp. Exhibits autonomous work that he collects in numbered series. From the start he specialized in theater/dance photography, writer's portraits and helped determine the identity of cultural institutions and others. Within the limits of an assignment, he uses his own language freely.
He works with and for companies including Compagnie de Koe, Inne Goris, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui/EASTMAN, Toneelhuis Antwerpen, KVS, Theater Zuidpool, Transparent, Theater Stan, Lod, Berlin and for literary publishers. For the international music ensemble graindelavoix, he provided the lighting and set design for many performances until 2020 and is the DOP for the film Outlandish about Thomas more utopia. With Inne Goris and Stef Stessel he made the theater installation “HUIS” that traveled through Flanders, the UK and France, in 2021 she worked on "OPHELIA" for the Flemish Opera, the palace and LOD, for which Koen Broos was the DOP of this theater film installation is.
For the MAS (Museum aan de Stroom, Antwerp), he is creating a series of 6 videos and a series of photos that reflect the themes and scenography of the exhibition for the new exhibition "Freight", which can be viewed from December 11, 2021 until 2031!
